Sevalaya hosted The National Girl Child Day celebrations on 16th October 2014.The programme was a Government Programme organized by Department of Social Defense.
Girl children face many problems in society today. Girl children are sexually abused even at a young age. This has resulted in physical and psychological trauma and the girl faces problems through her life. This need has resulted in the celebration of the National Girl Child day to protect girl children from sexual abuses from the community.
Speaking on the occasion Eliz Banu,Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee,Thiruvallur said that girl children are precious for the family and society and they have to be treated with due respect and care. She said every mother has to teach her children what is good touch and what is bad touch and tell the children to be safe from strangers.
