Sevalaya distributed sewing machines to Irula community

On 8th August 2016, Sevalaya distributed 10 sewing machines fitted with motors to ten Irula women at Poonimangadu, a village about 20 kms from Tiruttani. The power machines will immensely benefit the women, as a garment factory has already given them orders to stitch garments. The ten women have rented a centre and will stitch the garments in one room thereby saving a lot of time. This is going to produce a constant source of revenue for the women, and is part of the women empowerment initiative of Sevalaya. Mr. J Prabhakaran initiated the process and Sevalaya executed. Ms. Gayathri, a well wisher, poonimangadu helped in this initiative.
