Mahavir Jayanthi celebrated in a purposeful and unique way

Free distribution of Bird bath and water bowls to mark the occasion…

Mahavir Jayanthi, was celebrated in Sevalaya on 17th April 2016 to mark the Birth Anniversary of the 24th Tirthankar of Jainism.
The event was marked by Free distribution of 100 Concrete Water Bowls. These bowls are meant to be used for the relief of birds. It was advised to placed with water, on the terrace and balcony for birds to quench their thirst in the scorching heat of summer. It was announced by Mr V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya that these water bowls are available at Sevalaya’s Chennai city office, Mylapore to those who need it.
Another important event that took place was that certificates distributed to 55 students who had completed various courses in Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College. Out of them 5 students got placements in reputed establishments, it was announced on the stages.
Sevalaya sends the students for internships to various corporate and mostly they get job offers from such corporate.
Lauding the efforts of Sevalaya Vimal Chand Jain, a businessman and the Secretary of Akhil Bharathiya Jayamal Jain Sharvak Sangh, said that in fact Mr V Muralidharan, Founder himself follows the path of Bhagwan Mahavir in his life and this is evident from the great services he has been extending to poor and needy.
Several eminent persons participated and graced the occasion. Mr A Sridharan, a Puducherry, a businessman and Founder of Ahimsa Walk, and Dr D Ramesh, Asst. Professor of Arignar Anna Arts College, Villupuram and anchor of the popular TV show Mann Paesum Sarithiram, a show on the history of the towns and villages of historical importance, took part as special guests to the function.
Speaking to the children on the five ethical principles of Jainism, special guest Sridharan, exhorted the students to make the best use of the opportunities provided at Sevalaya and also develop the attitude of selfless service to the needy.
Sevalaya children and alumni presented a cultural show on the occasion. Sweets were distributed to the children and the elders.
Earlier, V Muralidharan, Founder & Managing Trustee welcomed the gathering. Amarchand Jain, Advisor, Sevalaya proposed Vote of Thanks. The function came to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
