Sevalaya, not only provides free food to the children, residents and others, but also wishes to ensure health safety of its children. Concerned on the mammoth problem of “hidden hunger” that confronts India and other developing countries, caused due to micronutrient deficiencies, provides fortified salt (enriched with iron and iodine). Sundar Salt, an organization, has been taking initiative effectively to combat micronutrient malnutrition. Last week, an awareness programme was held in karlapakkam Village, Thiruvallur District, Tamilnadu, India. 50 Parents of Sevalaya’s school children enthusiastically attended the programme, explained through video presentation for effective understanding. Nutritious Salt was distributed to the villagers. It is to be noted that Dr. Malavika, Sundar Salt, has been taking the initiative to create awareness among villagers.
