Gandhi Jayanthi, the birth anniversary of Mahathma Gandhi, one of the inspirers of Sevalaya was celebrated with enthusiasm. Students participated in essay writing, drawing and quiz competitions. The theme for the competitions was the life and works of Gandhiji. Prizes were distributed to the students who won in various competitions. In her address to the students, Chief Guest R Divyashree, Regional Revenue collector, urged the students to live in harmony. She further said that Gandhiji’s birth anniversary on 2nd October is celebrated around the world as ‘Ahimsa day’ (day of non-violence). She continued by saying that by working for rural development, Sevalaya is following the path of Gandhiji in the truest sense.
