M/s Asian Paints, a leading corporate in the country, has given their CSR Contribution of Rs.15,13,928 for Sevalaya. This amount is given towards Montessori Kits & Montessori training for teachers (Rs. 14.03 Lacs) and amenities for Senior citizens in Sevalaya’s Old age home (Rs. 1.1 lac).
Montessori model is first of its kind in Tamil nadu, for, the kids are taught Montessori in local language (Tamil). Hitherto Sevalaya has been providing Montessori model for the children of 3 to 6 years of age. With Asian Paints’ contribution it will be extended to 6 to 10 years of age in Primary School. The funds will be earmarked and appropriated for Montessori development as follows:
- To give effective training for 20 teachers of Montessori – 300 hours training
- To benefit 700 more children
- Exercises for practical life;
- Sensorial training (which develops fine motor skills);
- Language related kits;
- Arithmetic training.
All these are aimed to shape the children at the very tender age, which will prove to be greatly useful at latter stages of their educational career and the life as well.
Handing over the Cheque for Rs.15,13,928 Mr. Sanjeevi Kumar, Senior Manager (QA), lauded the services of Sevalaya to benefit underprivileged rural children.
It is relevant to recall that this effective initiative, which aims to achieve far reaching benefits in the lives of the children, was started on the benign blessings and support from one Ms. Padmini Gopalan, Sri Ramcharan Trust. Sevalaya gratefully recalls her initial initiatives and continued support, for the very reason that Montessori model educational initiative has been effective and efficacious in terms of deliveries and results.
Earlier, Mr. V. Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, in his welcome speech, explained at length the need of Montessori model and Sevalaya’s initiative on this. Ms. Radha Srinivasan, Head, Corporate Relations, proposed vote of thanks.
